The jobs most handymen turn down
The list above is the everyday work. This is the other half: jobs that need a permit pulled, a licensed trade brought in, or a rebate programme navigated. Legal basement apartments and secondary suites. Basement waterproofing and foundation repair. Insulation, windows and air sealing. Grab bars, ramps and senior home safety. Roof repairs and storm damage.
Most one-van operations pass on these, because they mean paperwork, inspections and coordinating somebody else's schedule. We take them on, and we tell you at the start which parts of your job need a licensed trade and which do not.
What one contractor for the whole job actually means
The usual way a renovation goes wrong is not bad workmanship. It is five trades who each did their bit correctly and nobody owning the gaps between them. The tiler waits on the plumber, the plumber waits on the electrician, and you are the one making the phone calls.
We hold the whole job. Where a stage needs a licensed trade for electrical, gas or HVAC, we bring one in, confirm their credentials before they start, and schedule them around the rest of the work. You get one number and one person answerable for the result.
How the quote works
Describe the job on the phone and you will get a ballpark on the spot. Send photos and you will get a firmer number, often without a site visit at all. For anything larger we do a free walk-through and then give you a fixed written quote before any work starts.

Asked most often
Do you do small jobs, or only full renovations?
Both, and the same contractor handles either. A single stuck door is a normal call. So is a full kitchen. The one thing worth knowing is that there is a minimum visit charge, because getting a van and a person to your door costs the same whether the job takes ten minutes or two hours, so it is usually better value to save up a list.
Are you licensed and insured?
We carry full liability insurance on every job. Where the work needs a licensed trade, electrical, gas or HVAC for example, we bring in a licensed contractor and confirm their credentials before they start, so the work passes inspection.
Can you handle permits?
Yes, on the jobs that need them, and we will tell you honestly at the quote stage whether yours does. Secondary suites, structural changes and some basement work generally do. Skipping a permit is what turns a renovation into a problem when you sell.
